Heidelberg United have officially announced the signing of Australian international Alex Chidiac, who signs on from Adelaide United after their recently concluded W-League campaign.

The attacking midfielder/winger is a massive coup for Melissa Barbieri’s outfit, with the recently turned 18-year-old a massive prospect with four years experience in the W-League system.

She worked with her new coach at Adelaide United for the 2014 and 2015 season, where the pair were teammates under the stewardship of Ross Aloisi.

A product of the FFSA NTC, a 33 goal season in 2013 for the State Development Program saw her become the youngest ever recipient of Shirley Brown Medal for the Women’s Premier League Best and Fairest.

This saw her selected for the Lady Reds at the tender age of 14, while she also made her international debut, travelling with the Australian U16’s squad.

After spending two seasons with the club, Chidiac completed a move to Melbourne City for their inaugural W-League campaign in 2015.

The youngster found game time limited, which prompted a move back to Adelaide in 2016, where she made seven starts and one appearance off the bench, scoring two goals for Huss Skenderovic’s outfit.

She is the fifth new addition to Barbieri’s squad for the upcoming campaign, with Katie Neville, Sky Jensen, Mikayla Lazic and Sarah Sumner set to be joined by more new faces before the beginning of the season.

It is the latest in a string of high profile signings for the NPLW, which in recent months has seen W-League players Emma Checker, Caitlin Doeglas, Amy Jackson and Alex Gummer join the league.
