Brunswick City have secured the signature of teenage striker Matthew Conversano from Whittlesea Ranges while also confirming the departure of off-season recruit Cameron Neales.

18-year-old Conversano departs Epping Stadium having featured in all 14 of the Ranges league games this term – starting five of them – but ultimately failed to find the back of the net.

A Hume City 20s player in 2014, he moved to Pascoe Vale in 2015 and broke into the senior team aged just 16 before having his progress curtailed by a second consecutive season-ending injury.

However he returned in 2016 and earned greater game time with the club, in total featuring 17 times for Paco in the league, scoring twice.

In addition to that, he was also named as a NPL Player Pathway monthly winner and at season’s end joined Nick Glavan and Kristian Trajceski as part of the Victorian contingent hoping to win a trial with the Sydney FC Youth tem which was subsequently won by the latter.

His task at Brunswick will be to no doubt ease the goalscoring burden off Welshman Adam Wright who this term has netted 12 of the Spartans’ 24 league goals.

Meanwhile, 25 year-old Neales departs Dunstan Reserve following his arrival from the Eastern Lions this summer.

The goalscoring midfielder scored on debut in the 3-1 triumph over Ballarat City in Round One but has failed to net again in the following 12 league games he featured in.

The ex-Sandringham City star was benched for the first time this campaign in last week’s 4-1 win over Bendigo City and has since left the club who earlier in the season released Hayden Kanjo and Dean Romas – with the pair both joining State League One side Clifton Hill.

Conversano is eligible to make his debut for City in today’s league fixture against Melbourne Victory Youth at Epping Stadium with George Karkaletsis’ men also understood to have experienced campaigner Yusuf Yusuf – formerly of Dandenong Thunder – trialling with the club.
