Heidelberg keeper completes A-League move

Heidelberg United goalkeeper Pierce Clark has completed a remarkable move to A-League outfit Newcastle Jets, The Corner Flag can exclusively reveal.

The move comes just two months after joining Heidelberg United on deadline day – having initially transferred from NPL Queensland outfit South West Queensland Thunder FC.

The teenager was thrusted into the senior fold in Round Two of the NPL Victoria season, where he put in an assured display in the absence of former Northcote City stopper Chris Theodoridis.

Despite since playing the role as his understudy, the promising youngster has provided ample back-up waiting in the wings.

An illustrious junior career saw the Toowoomba Grammar School graduate play first XI football, before signing with fourth tier German outfit SV Elversberg on a youth deal.

The teenager also spent time trialling with QPR and Crystal Palace before settling on a move to South West Queensland in 2015, then moving further south with Heidelberg.

He’ll get the opportunity to work and learn from one of the A-League’s best goalkeepers in Mark Birighitti.

Heidelberg have already secured the signature of goalkeeper Pasquale Gioffre from Tasmanian club Olympia FC as his replacement.
