Matildas & WPL players in FIFA 16 – Ratings

by Staff Writers 0

With FIFA 16 set to be commercially released early next week, there’s been plenty of curiosity in regards to the ratings our Matildas would receive on their debut in the video game franchise.

The Australian Women’s National Team has achieved a four star rating in the game, with Brisbane Roar’s star midfielder Katrina Gorry our highest rated player, receiving an 82 rating – the highest of any Australian in the game, male or female.

Other players in the elite category include Lisa De Vanna (81), Sam Kerr, Elise Kellond-Knight (both 79) and cover star Steph Catley (78), while a number more Melbourne City and Women’s Premier League players also make an appearance.

The Matildas captain Lisa De Vanna may possibly be the best Australian in FIFA 16, from a playing point of view. Fantastic aggression, speed, agility and balance along with high/high workrates means she’ll chase down everything on the park. Her dribbling, finishing and ball control makes her incredibly dangerous with the ball at feet as well as the added bonus of 4* skills and 5* weak foot.

The cover star of FIFA 16 Steph Catley has been given an incredibly well balanced stat spread, with some of the best defensive stats in the team. She also has good physical and pace stats, with her passing ability also on par with the midfielders.

Larissa Crummer (Melbourne City)

Melbourne City signing Larissa Crummer may be the lowest rated of the Matildas so far, but her rating is set to shoot up, should she continue her rise to the top. Great stats in attacking positioning as well as her technical abilities makes her a handy striker.

Melissa Barbieri (Box Hill United)

Recent FFV Hall of Fame inductee, former Melbourne Victory & current Box Hill United keeper Melissa Barbieri may have recently retired from the Matildas set-up, but she still makes an appearance in FIFA 16 as a 69 overall stopper. She has fantastic stats for handling and reflexes, and you’d imagine in her prime would have been quite the player in this game.
