Former Knights youth Duzel returns to Somers Street

Melbourne Knights have signed Anthony Duzel from Pascoe Vale in the mid-season transfer window.

The young midfielder returns to Somers Street where, following in father Ivan’s footsteps, he joined as a youngster, then progressed through the state elite representative sides before making a senior debut with the Knights.

He then played two seasons with Melbourne Victory’s Youth team in the NPL, while being part of the club‘s A-League youth setup for almost five years.

But it was after a trial in England with the Leicester City Academy that Duzel returned home and debuted for the Knights in 2013, going on to make 14 senior appearances before heading over to Victory’s NPL side.

While at Somers Street he helped Andrew Marth’s side claim the 2014 Dockerty Cup, and was part of Victory’s 2015 promotion side under Darren Davies.

In total he made 51 NPL  appearances at the Victory.

Released at the conclusion of the 2016 season, Duzel joined Pascoe Vale but struggled for game time, deployed as a backup option behind the likes of Joseph Youssef and Matteo Ballan.

He is the second Pascoe Vale player to depart in the mid-season window following Jacob Colosimo, another ex-Knight who signed in early 2017.
