The Bentleigh Greens have intensified their off-season recruitment with the additions of Daniel Visevic from NPL rivals Melbourne Knights and Queenslander Troy Ruthven.

Having earlier this week confirmed the signings of Queensland Trio Tyson Holmes, Chris Lucas and Matt Thurtell, the Greens attack has been bolstered by the acquisition of Visevic.

The 25-year-old striker/treqarista is no stranger to NPL audiences after last season turning out for the Knights while also featuring for Richmond on three separate occasions.

Visevic began his career at Kevin Bartlett Reserve as a teenager before moving to boyhood club Melbourne Knights in 2007.

After some impressive performances under the stewardship of Chris Taylor, Visevic along with fellow Knights youngster Mate Dugandzic signed for Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb the following year.

However both Melbourne youngsters struggled for game time and were loaned out to Second Division outfit Lokomotiva Zagreb before returning home after just one season in the Croatian capital.

He re-signed for Richmond and in 2010 formed an illustrious strike partnership with Jesse Krncevic as Mike Chatzitrifonos’ outfit won the VPL Premiership.

A stint with St Albans Saints followed in 2011 before he once again returned to Richmond before moving to Port Melbourne in 2013.

His move back to Knights Stadium in 2014 earned him a Dockerty’s Cup Medal as well national exposure through the club’s run in the FFA Cup.

However despite reported interested from a number of A-League clubs, including Victory, Visevic’s playing career has mainly been limited to the top flight of Victorian football.

At Bentleigh, the left-footer is expected to bang in the goals alongside fellow new strikers Lucas and Thurtell as John Anastasiadis’s side look to better the success of 2014.

Little is known about fellow new signing Ruthven, however he becomes the fourth player from the Sunshine State to sign on board at Kingston Heath in the space of the last week.

The 24-year-old midfielder joins the Greens from QLD NPL Champions the Palm Beach Sharks, joining Lucas in that regard, after winning the Player’s Player of the Year award at the Gold Coast based outfit.

Like Greens midfielders Luke Pilkington and Liam McCormick, Ruthven was a participant on the reality show Football Superstars, just missing out on a place in the final three in 2010.

Both Visevic and Ruthven are expected to strengthen an already formidable Bentleigh outfit when the new NPL season kicks off next March.
