American shot-stopper Kelsey Quinn will ply her trade in the Surf Coast in 2016, signing with Galaxy United from league rivals Heidelberg United.
She arrives with W-League pedigree, enjoying a short spell on the bench for reigning Champions Melbourne City while Brianna Davey made her return from injury.
Arriving in Australia in 2014, the shot-stopper kept seven clean sheets in her debut WPL season, and was voted TCF’s Goalkeeper of the Year by the WPL community.
Her second season at the club saw her lose momentum as a hand injury in the early stages saw her spot overtaken by Christine Fonua.
The incredible form of her teammate kept her out of the starting line-up upon her return from injury.
She spent the 2014 W-League season working with Melbourne Victory in a train-on capacity, before doing the same with City in 2015.
“I am so excited to come to Galaxy and be apart of this new club and the journey that lies ahead,” Quinn told Galaxy United.
“Vince [Ierardo] is a great coach and very professional, which makes me excited as a player to play for him and this team.”
Coach Vincenzo Ierardo was pleased to have secured the services of the experienced keeper, but has stopped short of guaranteeing her the number one position – with former North Geelong Warriors keeper Katie Neville also a part of the squad.
“Kelsey has established herself in the WPL for a few seasons now and has performed well,” Ierardo said.
“Kelsey’s performances in the WPL have given her an opportunity to be involved at W-League level all season and make the bench in that environment.
“It’s great to have two good goalkeepers who will both be training the house down to earn the number one jersey in time for the start of the WNPL season. Competition for places across the whole squad is important and will bring the best out of all players.”
