Northcote City have continued their heavy squad transition, signing Canadian Zachary Drake and former South Melbourne youngster Cody Martindale

The midfielder and fullback joins from Olympia FC and links up with former teammate Borbor Sam at John Cain Memorial Reserve – previously the duo had signed together at the reigning Tasmanian champions at the beginning of the 2016 season.

The well-travelled Drake has also previously played at Viktoria Kelsterbach (Germany), FCA Darmstadt (Germany), Bethel College (USA), Ottawa Fury (Canada) and Nacional AC (Brazil).

He will count as a Visa player, with Michael Cunningham confirmed to have departed the club.

21-year-old Martindale joins from South Melbourne, having previously spent time with Port Melbourne as well as playing senior football with Caulfield United Cobras in State League Four, and Noble Park United in State League One.

After spending time trialling with South Melbourne in pre-season of 2015, the attacking midfielder signed with the club, making three senior appearances before sustaining a long-tern knee injury in his first start for the club against Heidelberg United in Round Five of that season.

The double signing takes Goran Lozanovski’s transfer total to 11 new faces since re-taking the reigns at Northcote City.

They will be eligible to make their debut’s in tomorrow afternoon’s clash against Melbourne Knights, where a win could lift them off bottom spot on the NPL Victoria ladder for the first time since Round Five.
