FFV announces 2017 NPL structure

by Staff Writers 0

Football Federation Victoria have announced the NPL structure for 2017, with a number of switches between the NPL2 conferences.

As two sides were promoted from NPL2 West (North Geelong and St Albans), Northcote City FC and Melbourne Victory FC will be the relegated clubs from 2016 to fill that gap.

Meanwhile, with one side promoted from the east (Kingston City), the remaining relegated club Richmond SC will plug that gap, returning to the conference they were in before being promoted in 2015.

However, one more swap will see Brunswick City shift back to the West, swapping with Melbourne City.

Brunswick have had numerous switches now, having originally been in the West in 2015 before moving East in 2016.

Both A-League youth sides will also be in unfamiliar territory, with Victory playing in (and being promoted from) the East in 2015, while City have previously been in the West for two consecutive seasons.

There has been no word on fixtures yet, though they are expected later in December.

It will be possible for clubs to be relegated from NPL2 to State League 1 in 2017.
