Avondale FC have added former FFV Gold Medallist Kamal Ibrahim to their attacking stocks.

The winger moves from Bentleigh Greens, where he played a part in the club’s minor premiership and cup runs this year, including being part of the winning Dockerty Cup squad.

The former Port Melbourne junior started his formative footballing journey at the VIS and AIS, attracting the attention of then-Melbourne Heart in the A-League.

He made four A-League appearances in total from 2010-2012, with a loan stint at South Melbourne yielding 11 games and one goal in 2011.

During his time at Heart he also had a trial at Polish club Legia Warsaw.

However, he was released in 2012 and was signed by Heidelberg United, where he netted once in 14 times.

He moved back to the club of his youth, Port Melbourne, where he found some of his best form.

A three-year stint generated 14 league goals in 58 VPL/NPL games, culminating in an FFV Gold Medal as the league’s best and fairest in 2015.

His achievements attracted the attention of reigning champions Bentleigh Greens, who signed him for the 2016 season.

Ibrahim was hampered by injury throughout the campaign, contributing one goal in 14 league appearances before departing Kingston Heath.

He joins Anthony Barbieri’s side which has been bolstered by the signings of Craig Carley, Evan Christodoulou, Ramazan Tavsancioglu, Petar Franjic and Chris Oldfield – the latter joining A-League outfit Sydney FC on an injury-replacement contract but is expected to return to the Avengers should a full-time deal not eventuate.
