Melbourne Knights have landed talented youngster Nikola Jurkovic for the 2016 NPL Victoria season.

The 17-year-old midfielder joins from North Geelong Warriors, where he impressed in the club’s first season in the NPL top flight, despite the side suffering eventual relegation.

Jurkovic comes back to the club where he spent five years in his youth, having initially started his foray into football at Elcho Park before returning as a 15-year-old.

His footballing development has seen him transition from an attacker to midfield hard man.

He made nine appearances in the Warriors’ promotion-winning season, then went on to play over 20 games and score a maiden goal as Micky Colina’s side fell just short of survival with a play-off defeat against Melbourne Victory.

“I just want to enjoy every experience in every game, and follow football to wherever it takes me,” Jurkovic told the Corner Flag during the 2015 season.

“Off the pitch I just want to enjoy the challenges life brings me in the next few years.”

He joins Stefan Cali as the Knights’ second acquisition for the 2016 NPL Victoria season.
