Lozanovski returns to Northcote after short Port stint

Championship winning head coach Goran Lozanovski has returned to Northcote City, re-joining the club where he enjoyed VPL Championship success in 2013.

He comes back following a short stint as Port Melbourne assistant coach, answering to manager Eric Vassiliadis.

The move comes on the back of former Northcote U20s coach Alex Gymnopoulos succeeding Lozanovski, before a difficult start saw him depart and subsequently join Heidelberg United as a technical director.

Lozanovski had earlier departed John Cain Reserve in 2015 after a 3-0 loss to South Melbourne – the final game of the NPL Victoria regular season.

After former Socceroo won the 2013 VPL Championship, the club’s playing stocks had been raided, with the departures of key personnel leaving the club scrambling for reinforcements and leading to inconsistent form.

He took charge of the club in 2012 after a short stint as assistant coach the year prior, and had worked wonders with the limited resources available at the club.

His first game in charge will be against Bulleen Lions, with also a few new faces in the squad to work with, including former Newcastle Jets forward Braedyn Crowley.
