Dom Barba has made John Maclean his eighth addition for the 2017 NPL Victoria season.

The young forward makes the switch from Bentleigh Greens, where he was a late-season addition from Melbourne Victory’s youth side.

He is the third former Victory youth to sign with Port Melbourne, joining Kobbie Boahene and Chris Cristaldo at JL Murphy Reserve.

Maclean made a senior debut at Oakleigh Cannons in 2013, appearing three times.

A switch to Kingston City in 2014 in the first season of the NPL era led to him playing 18 games at the Grange and scoring four goals in the state’s second tier.

His form caught the attention of Victory, where he featured in 47 games and scored 19 goals in the club’s NPL team between 2015-16.

He was a key pillar of the squad’s promotion push in 2015.

However, the attacker, like many of his Victory teammates of that era such as Joey Katebian and Kieran Dover, departed in 2016 where he joined Bentleigh.

There he played five games, scoring a maiden goal against Edgeworth Eagles in the NPL finals series.

It will be a new-look Port Melbourne side under Barba in 2017 compared to Eric Vassiliadis’ era at the club, with new names including Takanori Nishimoto, Michael McGowan, Philippe Bernabo-Madrid, Brendan White, Jason Shade, Kobbie Boahene, Chris Cristaldo at the club.
