Match Ratings: Round 13 vs. Perth Glory

by Marc Sudholz 0

GK: Nathan Coe – 4.5

A disappointing performance from the Victory custodian, unable to stop Andy Keogh’s opener, before rashly coming off his line for the second goal, allowing Chris Harold to round him easily. Improved after that.

LB: Scott Galloway – 5.5

A disappointing game from the young left back, often dwelling on the ball too long, and allowing Harold and later Jamie Mclaren far too much space. Continued to run until the end in difficult conditions.

CB: Adrian Leijer – 5

A poor game from the former skipper, misjudging Marinkovic’s lobbed through ball, allowing Keogh to open the scoring. Often dwelled for too long in possession.

CB: Nick Ansell – 6

Again a difficult game for the young centre back, however little blame can be attached to him for either of Perth’s goals.

RB: Jason Geria – 6.5

Strong performance from the right back in hot conditions, making many good challenges, whilst constantly providing an overlapping run in attack. However, did get caught out in the lead up to the second goal.

CDM: Carl Valeri – 7

A strong display, linking defence and attack well, often stretching Perth with a wide array of passes. Appeared to tire towards the end in the conditions.

CDM: Leigh Broxham – 6.5

A frustrating evening for the utility, ran hard all game, but was late with a couple of challenges. Struggled to impact the game like he has other times this season, but one telling contribution with a clever touch and through ball to Finkler in the lead-up to the penalty.

RW: Kosta Barbarouses – 3.5

A poor game from the Kiwi International. Often found himself in promising positions, but took a touch too many on multiple occasions, when a shot or pass would have been a far better option. Replaced by Pain with 22 minutes remaining.

AM: Gui Finkler – 6 (1 assist)

Encouraging signs following a dip recently, however his set pieces were unusually poor, and passes too often intercepted.

ST: Besart Berisha – 6.5 (1 goal)

A better performance by the marquee, getting into many dangerous positions, forcing Vukovic into a number of saves. Scored the only goal for Victory from the spot.

LW: Archie Thompson – 5.5

Frustrating game from the veteran forward. Tried for the full 90, but just was not his night, being caught offside a number of times, with passes often missing the intended target. Caused Risdon some trouble down the left, but lacked the final product.
