Murray strengthen for 2017 with triple signing

Murray United have strengthened their squad with the additions of trio Jason Ugrinic (feature image), Abdulkerim Koc and Curtis Iverson for the 2017 NPL2 season.

Ugrinic comes from ACT club Belconnen and was part of the club that claimed the 2014 Capital Football championship.

He had also played under his father, head coach Dean Ugrinic, and signs on a short-term deal which will expire mid-season.

Ugrinic has an eye for finding the back of the net having been a regular scorer in the ACT.

“It’s a new experience for me as it’s new teams and a new environment from Capital Football. Facing better quality opposition on a regular basis will only help improve my overall game,” he told the club.



Murray coach James Coutts was pleased with the acquisition.

“Jason has great energy and ability going forward, he’s only here for a short period however I’m very excited about what he can do.”

Meanwhile, Abdulkerim Koc joins from fellow NPL2 side Whittlesea Ranges, where he made three appearances in 2016.

He was sent off in a late-season 8-1 defeat against Ballarat Red Devils for an incident involving Michael Trigger.

However, he adds experience to a youthful line-up having also featured at clubs such as Southern Stars

”I’m extremely happy to announce these signings. Kerim is a great character and will be a big presence in goal,” Coutts said.

Curtis Iverson returns to United after spending a season with local side St Pats FC in the Albury Wodonga Football Association.

He previously featured In Murray United’s youth setup in the club’s inaugural NPL season in 2015.
