NPLV Structure Announced

Football Federation Victoria have released the competition structure for the National Premier League Victoria today, having naming the 30 clubs that will be involved last Friday.

The teams will be split across two divisions, with 14 teams in the NPL, and 16 in the NPL 1, subject to all clubs signing their licence agreements.

Ballarat Red Devils and Goulburn Valley Suns were included in the NPL as the only two regional representatives in the top flight, with the rest of the league made up of Victorian Premier League teams.

Having finished in a relegation place last year, Richmond will be in NPL 1, while State League 1 winner Heidelberg United and runner-up Werribee City have been placed in the NPL.

The teams will play each other twice, but the big change has been the scrapping of the finals series, though the champion will still contest the national playoffs which begins on September 20.
