Former A-League forward Luke O’Dea is primed for a return to football with his former club, as the 22-year-old put pen to paper last night to become Bentleigh Greens’ second signing of the mid-season transfer window.

O’Dea was formerly on the books of Melbourne Victory and Melbourne Heart/City, making two league appearances for the former, while only notching up the solitary appearance on the bench under John van’ t Schip at Heart.

The injury ladened prospect has had a deep affiliation with Bentleigh, where he’s spent time with the club since 2013.

He played 22 games in Bentleigh’s lead up to the VPL Grand Final, scoring six goals along the way, while in very limited game time in 2014, he had just the solitary league goal to his name.

The youngster did play a large role in the Greens’ deep run into the FFA Cup however, but eventually succumbed to a long standing injury, which required time off the game.

The signing of O’Dea follows the news that utility defender Ryan Love has signed with the club, to add to a growing contingent of Queenslanders willing to brave the arctic weather of Melbourne.
