Pascoe Vale goalkeeper Alex Pavlidis joins Melbourne City on a short-term contract as injury cover for Tando Velaphi and will join the club for their home fixture against the Central Coast Mariners this Sunday.

Pavlidis – a member of the Melbourne City media team – is drafted into the squad after a stellar debut season in the NPL Victoria, where he displaced Stefan Saardelic early into the season and helped steer his side into a finals berth.

He made 23 appearances for Paco this season, having moved from Box Hill United at the start of the year after winning the NPL 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award.

The 23-year-old will take his place on the bench due to the absence of Youth Team goalkeepers Yaren Sozer and Jack West-Astuti with first-choice Thomas Sorensen expected to start.

He was signed yesterday after Velaphi sustained a concussion in the 3-1 FFA Cup loss to Perth Glory on Wednesday night.
