Former Sunshine George Cross midfielder Nathan Liberto has completed a move interstate by joining Adelaide United’s Youth team ahead of the 2017 NPL season.

The 18-year-old had recently joined the Bulleen Lions but will depart David Barro Stadium after impressing the Reds coaching staff in a recent trial.

A talented teen, Liberto moved to Chaplin Reserve at the commencement of the NPL in 2014 and eventually made his senior debut in 2015.

He made a total of seven league appearances under head coach Tony Ciantar, with Nathan’s father Renato part of Ciantar’s senior team coaching staff at the time. Liberto then enjoyed a break-out 2016, making a total of 25 league appearances which included a debut league strike in a 4-1 away defeat at Dandenong City.

Having signed with the Lions last month, the midfielder had also previously spent some time training with the Central Coast Mariners, under the watchful eye of former youth coach Ivan Jolic.

Liberto will be reunited in the South Australian capital with Huss Skenderovic, who also coached the youngster during his junior days.
