Season 2015 – in social media… and stuff

by Staff Writers 0

It was a long and arduous year in the NPL and WPL, but it certainly didn’t lack any lighter moments off the pitch. From coaches, club accounts and players, to our own shortcomings at TCF , this is the no holds barred 2015 in social media… and stuff.

Language warning issued.

Football Federation Victoria

We start off with various typos and stuff coming from the leagues’ official accounts:

NPL | Before the shock move for Kostas Katsouranis, Heidelberg had seemingly lured Hume stars Daniel Clark and Marcus Schroen over to Olympic Village:

WPL | Over in the Women’s Premier League, players were literally getting down and dirty:

But seriously, what is it with players so gloriously excreting during a game?
cracking shit

And finally, NPL Victoria must be Klopptimists.

Clubs

State leagues | First they failed to land Louis Saha for an FFA Cup game, then Sepp Blatter presumably didn’t give Caulfield a shout-out for their promotion. But we applaud the club’s ambition:

Perhaps a ‘donation’ to Jack Warner would have done the trick

NPL | Moving on to the NPL, and boy did Bentleigh’s Grand Final triumph justify this arrogance/premonition/bold statement:

A-League | We’re all susceptible to the odd faux pas here and there, but exactly what did Melbourne City call Yaya?

Yaya, Yaya Yaya, Yaya Yaya, Yaya Yaya wh...
Yaya, Yaya Yaya, Yaya Yaya, Yaya Yaya whor…

Photoshop

Not only does Victoria possess some skillful footballers on the pitch, they’re also very creative off it:

People

Congratulations on reaching it this far. We move onto some individual brilliance.

NPL | We begin with the curious case of Adam Nakic, who not only unknowingly has his identity paraded around on the RMIT hotties page, but also had it stolen to improve someone’s chances of getting lucky:

Some poor soul is going to suffer a really unfortunate catfish-ing

NPL | Speaking of the beautiful game, Dandenong City were all too happy to parade around former golden boy Steven Topalovic. He was also a model professional, winning the NPL Victoria.

NPL | Staying at Kingston Heath, while Luke O’Dea again couldn’t string many minutes on the pitch, he was certainly earning more minutes of fame off it:

WPL | Speaking of actual fame, a lucky fan in 1D’s Niall Horan got to mix it with the FFV’s very own Hall of Famer, Melissa Barbieri:

Kelsey, do you even forklift?

NPL | While we’re on the topic of goalkeepers, not only does Chris May have a fun club, they’re pretty creative.

player 6
Chris may not have done it on bingo night at Green Gully, but he did on a painted pitch at Kingston Heath

NPL | We do love a bit of player banter, and what’s better than two former teammates going at it?

player7

NPL | To answer the last question, banter about South Australia

NPL | Actually, make that any sort of banter involving Stuart Webster:

WPL | Ladies and gentlemen, we present former Bundoora United and new Keilor United coach, Mark Torcaso (we don’t know why his Twitter handle is spelt with a “c”):

"I don't always tweet, but when I do, it's an epic pocket dial in non-fluent dutch."

NPL/A-League | You can take the boy out of Melbourne City’s social media department, but you can’t take the Bachelorette out of the boy.

Now uh, anonymous follows a very eclectic mix of Twitter accounts:

Team App Cup | All our biggest errors came during the Team App Cup final. First, there was Any Jackson scoring a goal:

Then Racheal Quigley equalising for Bulleen, prompting wild celebrations from… Boroondara
