Sky joins Galaxy of stars

Galaxy United have announced former Boroondara Eagles defender Sky Jensen as their latest acquisition, the club’s third signing this pre-season.

The 18-year-old defender had a standout season with the ladder leaders as her no-nonsense approach helped the Eagles towards the accolade of the league’s most stringent defence.

She was a consistent figure in the heart of defence since making the move across from the Senior NTC at the beginning of 2014, and the move makes United the fourth club in as many years for the youngster.

“Sky has come to Galaxy United looking for further opportunity to improve and I’m happy to have her on board,” said coach Vincenzo Ierardo via Galaxy United.

“Sky has very good defensive attributes for a young central defender; the Grand Final changed for Boroondara when Sky was forced to leave the field with a calf injury.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Sky in a Galaxy United jersey for the upcoming season.”

She started her career in the Victorian top-flight with Altona City, where she made 20 appearances in a side that went on to get relegated at the end of 2013.

A move into the NTC followed, where her impressive form helped her secure a move to the Eagles, where she won WPL silverware for the first time in the form of a Minor Premiership and Team App Cup double.

“It’s a brand new team in a brand new league which is very exciting, I’m very happy to be linking up with Galaxy United and new coach Vince,” Jensen said.

“I’m looking forward to working with everyone at Galaxy both on and off the field to further develop myself.”

Jensen – who was signed this season on a short-term deal with Melbourne Victory – joins W-League teammates Laura Spiranovic and Whitney Knight at the regional club.
