Torcaso: Back on track

Bundoora United co-coach Mark Torcaso was more content that his side was finally able to rotate players after a busy few weeks, more so than the 4-0 win over Caulfield United Cobras.

After a hectic schedule, which included four games in two weeks, Torcaso admitted that it was important that the players all got the chance for a run out.

“It was good [the performance],” said Torcaso, speaking on behalf of himself and fellow co-coach Paul Kilpatrick.

“But more importantly, we were able to give a lot of players who haven’t played in the last few weeks a bit of a go.

“We had to. [There were] a couple players who had to come back from injuries and we were happy to give them a go at the end of the game.

“We’re pretty happy with the performance and the game.”

The hectic timetable included United having to play four games in a fortnight, comprising of three Women’s Premier League games and a midweek Quarter-Final Team App Cup clash.

The 4-0 win over the Cobras was the first in three Premier League games after two consecutive losses, including a 7-1 smacking against Bulleen Lions.

They did progress to the Team App Cup Semi-Finals against league leaders Boroondara Eagles, after making light work of South Melbourne with a 3-0 win.

Torcaso admitted that the heavy schedule was the reason for their up and down form of late, and getting the three points was important.

“Yeah it was,” said Torcaso, when questioned on the importance of bouncing back from the losses.

“But in saying that, we’ve been up and down because of the amount of games we’re played.

“So the win was important to get us back on track.”

The co-coach said that the team will change its training or approach in the coming weeks as the battle for finals looms closer.

“We’ll do what we’ll always do and take each week as it comes.”

Bundoora next host finals-chasing Heidelberg United at Hillsview Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon.
