Tsolakis, Tangalakis take the reigns at Oakleigh

Oakleigh Cannons have announced the coaching duo of Peter Tsolakis and Con Tangalakis will replace the outgoing Arthur Papas in 2016.

The 2011 VPL Coach of the Year joined mid-season following the departure of Miron Bleiberg, leading the club to league survival, a Dockerty Cup final and an impressive FFA Cup run that included wins over North Queensland Fury and MetroStars.

Papas announced his departure from Jack Edwards’ Reserve following the Cannons’ FFA Cup quarter final defeat to Hume City.

Tsolakis has both played at, and coached, Heidelberg and South Melbourne, with his most recent tenure at the latter ending controversially following the sacking of five players mid-season.

The former midfielder most prominently enjoyed A stint at Northcote City between 2004 and 2011, earning promotion to the VPL in 2010 and leading the club to a Mirabella Cup triumph in 2011.

Less is known about Tsolakis’ co-coach Tangalakis, with the duo set to prepare a squad overhaul to improve an 11th place finish in 2015.
