A stunning strike in a big game from Kruse. Hit first time, this sumptuous strike from outside the box into the top right hand corner set the tone for an exciting game ultimately ending 2-2, a result which saw Melbourne through to a home grand final.

4: Gui Finkler v Western Sydney, 2013-14

A stunning free kick with essentially the last effort of the game. From 30 yards, the charismatic Brazilian stepped up and curled an inch-perfect free kick past Ante covic, earning a point for the home side and prompting an infamous piece of commentary from Brenton Speed.

3: Carlos Hernandez v Gold Coast United, 2009-10.

A goal that simply cannot be left off this list. Taking the ball from 40 yards, fan favourite Hernandez took only two touches before rocketing a shot past Glen Moss in the Gold Coast goal from 35 yards. The shot dipped, swirled and had incredible power, and to this day is one of the best long range goals we’ve seen in the A-League.

2: Archie Thompson v Melbourne Heart, 2012-13

A goal that raises the hairs on the back of the neck for all Victory fans. At 1-1 in the derby, with no time on the clock, Thompson latched onto Marco Rojas’ inch perfect through ball, chipping Clint Bolton with the ball only just crossing the line after first hitting the crossbar. The most dramatic of winning goals in a derby to date (though Erik Paartalu may have something to say about that).

1: James Robinson v Adelaide United, 2006-2007

Not the most glamorous of goals, but arguably the most famous in Victory’s history and Robinson’s career. With the scores tied at 1-1 following a goalless first leg of the semi-final, it appeared that Adelaide were destined to host a home decider, before this moment of Victory folklore.
