Heidelberg United have officially announced the signing of Jordan Wilkes from Northcote City, marking a return to the club he last played for in early 2014.

Wilkes is fresh off an outstanding performance in Northcote City’s second win of the season, where he netted a header in the 3-0 result against Melbourne Victory.

He has appeared 39 times for Northcote since making the move to John Cain Memorial Reserve in 2015, scoring twice – including this week’s effort.

Wilkes made his VPL debut in 2011 with the Moreland Zebras (then Whittlesea Zebras), coming on as an 89th minute substitute in his only senior appearance of the season.

Similarly, he appeared once off the bench in 2012, taking the place of Nick Symeoy in his second senior appearance for the club, having played the majority of his football in the Under 20’s.

FULL NPL MID-SEASON TRANSFER LIST

Wilkes enjoyed consistent first team football in 2013 under George Katsakis at Heidelberg United, where he made 22 appearances in their State League One Championship winning season.

He was retained as Heidelberg headed into their maiden season in the NPL Victoria, where he made a further 26 appearances for the season, predominantly in a right-back role, before making the move to Northcote in 2015, earning the NPL’s Rising Star of the Month award that season.

The 21-year-old becomes the second signing for Heidelberg so far this window, with former Melbourne City NPL captain Phil Petreski also signing on.

Wilkes joins Aaron Ward (Green Gully), Nasr Said, Steven Sifinos, Zois Galanopoulos and Phillip Vaiopoulos (all released) as departures for Goran Lozanovski’s Northcote.
