Williams joins Box Hill from NTC

Former Senior NTC defender Jaimee Williams becomes the latest player to join Bob McGuinness at a new look Box Hill United for the upcoming 2016 NPLW season.

The young defender took to the field in Box Hill’s pre-season friendly against Melbourne United on the weekend, where she made a successful comeback from a meniscus tear in the knee, which was operated on early December.

The natural centre-half was made to work in a number of different positions during that friendly, spending time both in the midfield and at right-back, showcasing her versatility across the park.

Williams began her footballing journey through the elite-pathways six years ago, spending four years within the State Development Program run by the FFV, having moved from Morwell in country Victoria.

She has been a part of the Victorian State Team rising up through the age groups, making the squad six times, as well as the Australian All-Stars squad twice during her time.

Williams spent two seasons in the NTC system, making a total of 25 appearances in the league across 2014-15, while also serving as a Melbourne Victory train-on player in that time.

The mobile centre-half forged a formidable partnership with Coby McInerney in 2015, providing strong foil for the aerial prowess of her defensive partner.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the team this season as there is some amazing talent at Box Hill,” Williams said.

“The girls have been really welcoming and supportive and I’m enjoying my football a lot more. We are really bonding as a team which will get stronger as we go through the year. Getting to play alongside another Gippsland girl Maddie [Richardson] in the backline and working with her will be great.

“Having such talented players at the club and being able to play under such a quality coach like Bobby is definately going to help me improve and develop my game. He really helps us believe in ourselves and brings out the best in us as a group which is what its all about – teamwork.”

She is the second announced new signing for Box Hill United so far this pre-season after the return of striker Jasmina Pedic.
